Orixas Art Hotel

Travel and luxury are two things that should always go together. Deciding to take a little time out from coaching and living beach life, I took a little vacation up the coast to Orixas Art Hotel with Giselle for some well deserved R&R time. Our trip just 'happened' to coincide with the recent full moon, so some SUP yoga in the low tide rock pools that Felchaires is so famous for was on cards!

Orixas Art Hotel is one of a kind, something quite unexpected in the small, sleepy fishing village of Flecharies. Arguably one of the most beautiful hotels in Ceara, it stands proud and strong on the beach front, facing out to the beautiful natural swimming pools that the low tides expose each day. Breakfast is served a bread rolls throw from the ocean as Jangada fishing boats make their way out to sea. For those of you who are cake lovers like me, there is a delicious selection of homemade cakes available fresh bakedeach morning

The main body of the hotel is settled back from the beach and the public eye, giving it an exclusive and very private feel. If it wasn't for the distant sound of waves one could easily forget it's closeness to the beach when wandering the tropical gardens that surround the swimming pool, searching for statues between the palm trees and discovering small cabanas for relaxation and massage as one goes.

There is something beautiful to see each direction you cast an eye at Orixas, the hotel lives up to it's name and boasts art in various mediums throughout. Huge soap stone sculptures tower in the reception area and antique works of art hang from the walls as you wander the lobby and hallways.

It's not only objects of art that give Orixas it's name, the construction of the hotel it's self is a work of art. Each rooms has it's own private pool or jacuzzi area, those on the second floor have views out to the ocean. The rooftop 400msq presidential suites pool looks out over the roof tops to the sparkling Atlantic Ocean.

Orixas Art Hotel has a feeling of spirituality and mysticality and in fact the word Orixas come from the Yoruba or Umbanda religion. Orixas is one of the many god's within the religion and it is after the other gods of this religion that the hotel rooms are named.

For me I found the perfect hammock next to the jacuzzi in our room in which to relax and wait for the tide to go out before starting a SUP Yoga session!
