This afternoon we took a stroll up to the local supermarket, in the village of Paje. Wandering along sand tracks, while shaft of light pass down through the palm fonds is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.
The aim of our trip was to buy chocolate, so every step was that little bit more special.!

Paje is a relatively small village, with around 500 local inhabitants. Plus a small (but growing) community of kite surfers.
There is a mixture of small thatched mud huts, some stone houses and a few "shops" selling fruits and essential items. It is really quite a simple place and makes Taiba look like a bustling metropolis!

There are also a couple of places that sell art and carvings, aimed towards the tourists. The huts are covered from top to bottom with brightly coloured canvases.
The style of the art remind me of Beira Mar and the evening fair. I'm hoping to find a local artist, it would be great to visit and watch the whole process from start to finish.

We stocked on fresh fruit, then spoilt the whole health kick thing by splashing out on peanut butter and nutella! We love our banana pancakes covered with a thick mixture of the two :)
It's a good job were working and kiting so hard that we can burn it off fast!

As with most kite spots around the world the local youngsters are inspired by our sport and try making kites of their own. Perhaps one day this little guy will be a world champion, in kiting anything is possible!
When I first arrived in Brazil I taught one of the local boys, Artus Santos, from Taiba how to kite. He is now current national kite wave champion, so you just never know!
